How to Change Your Nickname in Free Fire (Step-by-Step)
Changing your nickname inside Garena Free Fire is straightforward, but it requires either diamonds or a Name Change Card. Follow these verified steps:
- Generate and Copy: Choose your favorite nickname from the cards above and click the 📋 Copy button.
- Launch Free Fire: Open the game on your device and tap on your Profile Banner in the upper left corner of the main lobby.
- Open the Edit Modal: Tap the yellow Notebook/Pencil Edit icon located directly next to your current nickname.
- Paste Your New Name: Tap on the "New Nickname" text field, long-press, and select Paste.
- Confirm the Change: Confirm the rename using either 390 Diamonds or 1 Name Change Card (available in the Guild Store for 39 Diamonds + 200 Guild Tokens).
Free Fire 12-Character Nickname Rules & Limitations
Before confirming your rename card or spending diamonds, be aware of Garena's official nickname rules:
- 12-Character Length Cap: In Free Fire, player nicknames (IGN) cannot exceed 12 characters. Guild/Clan names can be up to 16 characters. If your name contains multi-byte Unicode symbols, the game's internal byte counter may register them as 2 or 3 characters each. Always check the live rule badge in our tool.
- Blocked Regular Spaces: Free Fire does not permit normal keyboard spaces. If you press space on your keyboard, the game will ignore it or return an "Invalid Name" error. Use our Invisible Space (
\u3164) button to add clean spacing between words and clan initials. - Unsupported Glyphs (Question Marks & Boxes): Some ultra-rare emojis and symbols render as empty rectangles (
▯) or question mark blocks () inside the game client because Free Fire uses a custom subset of the Noto Sans / Roboto typeface. The symbols provided in our palette above have been tested and verified to render properly in Free Fire OB55. - Prohibited Terms and Censorship: Garena maintains an automated profanity filter. Names containing offensive language, political slogans, hate speech, or impersonating official Garena staff or partners will trigger an error or risk account suspension.

How to Make an Invisible Name in Free Fire
An invisible name (also known as a blank name or ghost nickname) makes your player tag completely transparent on leaderboards, kill feeds, and profile inspections. Opponents will see only your guild badge or an empty space when you eliminate them.
Scroll up to the Invisible Space Generator box and tap Copy Single Space (or Copy Double Space). This copies the special Unicode character \u3164 into your device clipboard.
Because thousands of players have registered invisible names, a single blank space might already be taken. To create a unique invisible name, paste 2 to 4 invisible spaces in sequence, or place one invisible space between two small invisible diacritics.
Paste the copied invisible string into Free Fire's rename dialog. If the name is already taken, simply add another invisible space until Garena's validator accepts it.
Frequently Asked Questions: Free Fire Nicknames & Symbols
How many characters are allowed in a Free Fire nickname?
Free Fire allows a maximum of 12 characters for player nicknames (IGN) and up to 16 characters for Guild/Clan names. Some complex Unicode symbols may count as multiple characters in Garena's internal encoding.
How do I put space in my Free Fire nickname?
Free Fire blocks standard spacebar spaces. To insert spaces, use the Unicode Hangul Filler character (U+3164). Use our "Copy Invisible Space" button above to copy it and paste it directly into your in-game name.
Can I get banned for using stylish symbols or invisible names?
No. Using Unicode symbols, decorative fonts, and invisible spaces is 100% legal and does not violate Garena's terms of service because it relies strictly on standard Unicode text rendering without modifying game files or using third-party scripts.
How do I get a Free Fire Name Change Card for free or cheap?
You can purchase a Name Change Card from the in-game Guild Store for 39 Diamonds and 200 Guild Tokens (a huge discount from the normal 390 Diamond cost). Name Change Cards are also frequently rewarded in seasonal Battle Passes and festival events.
Why do some symbols look like boxes or question marks?
If a symbol appears as an empty rectangle (▯) or question mark (), it means the in-game font installed on your device does not support that specific Unicode glyph. All symbols included in our generator have been curated and verified to render properly inside Free Fire.
